I've pretty much memorized Rewrite by Asian Kung-Fu Generation, the 4th FMA OP,
because I constantly listen to it and read the lyrics. I *sort
of* know other songs, especially from Blood+, FMA and Ouran.
The only ED theme I can really sing to is A Rising Tide from GUNxSWORD...mostly
because it's in English. I took
Japanese lessons, but they're mostly elementary stuff, so I can only vaguely
understand Japanese songs.
Sometimes I like the rain, sometimes I don't. When it's a calm shower or when
it's enough to suspend classes (YAY =D), then it's all right. But when it gets
so strong that there's a death toll and the electricity goes out, then I end up
cursing the rain.
Either way, the rain is a source of inspiration for me. And sometimes, it even
relaxes me.
According to The Anime News Network,
Funimation has acquired the rights to dub Jigoku Shoujo (Hell Girl) and Ouran
High School Host Club. The first Jigoku Shoujo DVD, containing the first 5
episodes, will be released on Oct. 23 this year, while Ouran will be released
next year.
A partial cast list for JS is at the ANN as well, although we still do not know
the English cast for Ouran.
So, what do you think? In my honest opinion, Funimation's dubs are very good
(read: FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST) and I'm glad they secured two of my favorite series.
Some of you may not have the same opinion as I do, but I'm sorry. I for one look
forward to hearing more about this, especially about Ouran.
Fullmetal Alchemist was the anime that made me forever love Funimation's dub
work. The casting was excellent, though I have to give special props for Vic
Mignogna for doing such a great job as Edward Elric. Also Aaron Dismuke - even
though he was only a kid when they did FMA, he was wonderful as Alphonse. The
actors and actresses fit their roles very much.
There's also Fruits Basket - usually, I prefer to watch animes that are set in
Japan and/or have Japanese characters in...well, Japanese, but Fruits Basket is
an exception. The dub was wonderful, and I even ended up preferring the English
version.
Hmmm...another good dub is Blood+ (Haji's voice, most especially, it's spot-on
whether in Japanese or in English), and Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE (also done
by Funimation). Other honorable mentions include Fate/Stay Night and Gun X
Sword.
Also, I hear many good things about the upcoming English dub of Jigoku Shoujo,
yet another Funi-licensed anime.
~Brothers/Bratja - Michiru Oshima and the Russian choir (Fullmetal Alchemist -
and this one's on top of my list because the kids' voices are really touching
and the song manages to tell the story of the Elric brothers in under five
minutes. Plus, I'm trying to learn it on piano right now)
~Niji no Kanata (Beyond the Rainbow) - Yukino Satsuki (Gun X Sword)
~La Speranza - Hitomi (Gun X Sword)
~Dream Scape - FictionJunction Kaori (Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE)
~Tsubasa - FictionJunction Kaori (Tsubasa)
~Kelas (Let's Dance) - Tayo Awosusi (FMA movie: Conqueror of Shamballa)
Those are some of mine. ^_^ I agree, sometimes insert songs are just as good, if
not better, than the OP and ED songs. They need love too.
I recently finished "The Bellmaker" by Brian Jacques. At first glance
you'd think it's a kiddie story because of talking animals calling the shots,
but it's not. It's got a lot of stuff in it that you wouldn't want kids to read
about, and I highly doubt a kid would understand such a multilayered plot.
So I recommend this and all of Brian Jacques' work to all those who like fantasy
and action. And talking woodland creatures. ^_^
Yuki Kajiura, I agree with all of you. ^_^ I adore her work in Tsubasa the
most.
There's also Michiru Oshima (FMA), Koutarou Nakagawa (Gun X Sword), Hirano
Yoshihisa (Ouran), Kenji Kawai (Fate/Stay Night) and Mark Mancina (Blood+). I
love all their compositions, every now and then one of them gets stuck in my
head.
I have quite a few...and I'm always looking for more.
Blood+ (both OSTs, plus Haji playing Bach on cello)
Fruits Basket
Fullmetal Alchemist (1-3, plus movie)
Gun X Sword (both)
Jigoku Shoujo (1st OST)
Kyou Kara Maou!
Ouran High School Host Club (both)
Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE (Future Soundscape I-IV)
I love to listen to anime OSTs, and I have many of them on my iPod. I tend to
listen to them mostly when I'm writing fanfiction or doing homework, or
basically just to relax, or even for the heck of it. Many anime shows, like
Tsubasa, FMA and Ouran, have awesome OSTs that are awesome.
And as I post this, I'm listening to the Blood+ OST.
Hi...I'm new (Obviously! ).
Anyhow, I'm Aerenalle, and I almost misspelled my username. Yeah. Whoops.
Anyhow, I hope to make new friends here and learn more about the anime and manga
I know, and even those I don't know. Some of the few anime/manga I'm into right
now are FMA, Ouran Host Club, Fate/Stay Night and Gun X Sword. I come from the
Philippines, and I'm a college freshman.
